Initially manual processes can be sufficient for an organisation. As time passes
and the volume of transactions to process grows or the process becomes more complex
the organisation may reach a point where it makes economic sense to automate the
process and remove manual steps wherever possible. Automated processes allow:
-
Volumes to grow without always having to add additional staff
-
Making the business processes faster
-
Making the business processes more reliable.
Ideally an automated process should keep logs of normal activity which can be reviewed
when necessary. The automated process should notify staff when a condition occurs from
which the process cannot automatically recover.
